If you visit Fort Worth in the springtime, especially in April, you will see wildflowers blooming along the sides of the highway, in empty fields, and all over the countryside if you drive just 10 minutes or so out of town.
The Texas Bluebonnet grows wild, and each spring it is a huge attraction for locals and out-of-state visitors alike. The best place in North Texas to see this beautiful flower at its best is the tiny town of Ennis, about an hour southeast for Fort Worth. There you will find field upon field of Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush.
But even if you don’t want to make the hour-long drive, you will find a lot of Bluebonnets even in the busy city limits. People literally stop along the side of the highways to take pictures of their children in the flowers. This is our favorite thing about Texas in the spring. In fact, my husband wrote an entire blog about it!
But don’t just take our word for it; look at the picture below. That’s the face of a kid who loves the Texas Bluebonnets!
