Bridge of Sighs

ZurichLucerneMilanVenice2013 885The Bridge of Sighs is both a historical and legendary sight in the city of Venice. (It’s also quite beautiful.)

Historically, the enclosed bridge once connected to the prison. Supposedly the last view of Venice convicts had prior to imprisonment was through the windows of this lovely bridge.

But there is also a local legend associated with this bridge. If lovers kiss underneath this bridge at sunset while riding in a gondola, they will be granted eternal love and bliss.

While my husband an I didn’t test out the legend, we did see this lovely sight at sunset.
